In 2022, this honor was bestowed upon Fazenda, which achieved a remarkable Total Recordable Injury Frequency Rate (TRIFR) of 0.80 per million hours worked. This remarkable feat underscores the dedication and commitment of the Fazenda team. Furthermore, Fazenda reached an impressive milestone of 2.9 million hours worked without any lost-time injuries, a remarkable achievement that underscores the paramount importance of safety at the mine. The management team at Fazenda has diligently worked to ensure the safety of all employees and contractors, fostering a safety culture that serves as a model for other mine sites. The COO's Most Improved Safety Award for 2022 was bestowed upon Greenstone, in recognition of its remarkable achievement: a 47% reduction in TRIFR (Total Recordable Injury Frequency Rate) compared to the previous year. This significant progress stands as a testament to the unwavering commitment and diligent efforts of the entire Greenstone team, who have placed safety at the forefront of their operations. The CEO's Safety Leader Award acknowledges individuals who have demonstrated exceptional safety leadership. This year's recipients are as follows:
- 1st Place – Washington dos Santos Gonçalves, who works at RDM. He introduced fixed work platforms to replace scaffolding, effectively reducing the risk of falls from heights. His innovative approach has not only enhanced safety but also streamlined work processes. Congratulations, Washington!
- 2nd Place – Elder Tomé Bispo Oliveira, who works at Fazenda. He introduced two tools, the "drum catcher" and the "drum wheel," which have significantly improved the safety of handling 45-gallon drums of kerosene. Additionally, he implemented workbenches to prevent falls when accessing valves. Elder's innovative initiatives have made the workplace safer and more efficient. Congratulations, Elder!
- 3rd Place – César Augusto Miranda Santos, who works at Aurizona. César collaborated with his team to fabricate a guard that prevents falls near an opening, ensuring the safety of his colleagues during maintenance work.
